For families who choose this pathway, puppies remain with us a little longer while continuing their early socialization, crate routines, leash exposure, and household readiness in a supported home environment.
From Birth to Bonding
For us, imprint training begins at birth. From their earliest days, puppies are gently conditioned to human connection, confidence, and emotional security through consistent handling and early household exposure.
For a small number of puppies, this extended imprint pathway continues beyond the typical go-home timeline. During this additional time, puppies deepen their familiarity with routines such as crate rest, name recognition, early recall, leash introduction, and everyday environments while strengthening their comfort working alongside people
Roscoe has certainly maintained much of the training. He rings the bells to go in the backyard and is fully potty trained. He’s great in the car and does well going into the PetValu store too. He has been a wonderful addition to the family!

Willow settled in great! She’s been sleeping pretty well, only had to get up once last night to let her out. She’s learning to go to the back door to let us know and she goes right away outside.

Learning Through Everyday Experiences
We didn't have a ton of time to start basic training. DreamDoods training program was a great start for us! Chester came to us nearly 12 weeks old; he could recognize his name, sit, stay, come, walk on a leash comfortably and with ease. Chester also started crate training while in their program. These were wonderful starts for us.
